Review: Cashmirino | Cashmere Slow Fashion

Cashmirino is a family-owned premium children’s clothing brand born in Italy and based in London. With strong ethical values and a loyal international clientele, the luxury children’s clothing brand sets the bar very high for slow children’s fashion.

Unique high-end clothing for babies and children

Children’s clothing workshop best known for its luxury cashmere collections, Cashmirino was founded by Maria Busquets, after the birth of her second daughter in 2000. After having children, Maria realized there was a huge lack in the market for colorful and quality cashmere clothing for children, and so Cashmirino was born.

Today, the company now offers a multitude of unique and sustainable garments made from 100% natural fibers. The line includes gorgeous knitwear, clothing, shoes and accessories as well as the most unique hand-embroidered and smocked dresses you have ever seen.

Dress children like children

The belief that children should be dressed like children is at the heart of Cashmirino’s philosophy. They want your little ones to love the clothes they are in and feel comfortable and free to go on the adventure of the day. This philosophy plays a big role in the magical story of each garment made by the brand.

Slow fashion and sustainable clothes for kids

The Cashmirino team travel the world to find the best 100% natural fibers to create classic children’s outfits that can be worn over and over again. This careful process takes better care of the environment and of the children who wear their clothes.

“Cashmirino clothing is designed to stand the test of time. These are beautiful heirloom pieces that can be passed down through the family, ”says Leo Bamford, founder of My Baba.

Fine fabrics from England, Italy and Spain, cashmere from Inner Mongolia, Pima cotton and Royal Alpaca from Peru are all used to create comfortable and unique outfits for children. Each garment is designed to be absorbent, breathable and hypoallergenic. Using the best natural fibers will also help regulate your child’s temperature, which is vital for dressing babies and toddlers who can’t tell you when they’re too hot or too cold.

Handcrafted and artisanal finishing

Everything you see was designed with love and passion. No fast or faceless fashion factory is involved in any part of Cashmirino’s business model. The centuries-old traditions of hand embroidery, crochet, appliqués and smocking are kept alive through artisan production and traditional manual skills.

Cashmirino works closely with self-employed and highly skilled workers as well as their wider communities to produce classic and durable pieces that can be worn and passed down from generation to generation.

Smocked dresses

Cashmirino’s beautiful selection of smocked dresses are all painstakingly hand-sewn by different artisans in a true labor of love. Each dress has a more playful print than the next. It is no exaggeration to say that these dresses are each a work of art.

Cut in Italy, the front panels of the dress are sent to Italian and Spanish artisans to be smocked and embroidered by hand. These panels are then sent to a small manufacturer in northern Italy to be sewn with the rest of the dress.

“It’s a time consuming process,” says Maria, “each piece of smocking takes eight to nine hours.”
