One of California’s most popular family vacation spots is the San Diego Zoo. From lions to polar bears, the zoo is home to just about any animal you can think of. The best part is that you will find other great places to go just around the corner, like Sea World San Diego or Legoland California. You can easily waste several days exploring these places.

Disneyland Anaheim

While we’re still in California, how about a visit to the land of the imagination? Disneyland Anaheim is perhaps California’s most famous family attraction. The park offers a completely immersive experience, allowing children to let their imaginations run free and adults to relive childhood memories.

The Maid of the Mist

We’ve all heard of Niagara Falls, the awe-inspiring waterfalls near the Canadian border. The Maid of the Mist Walk brings tourists closer to the thundering water, passing through the watery haze as the boat rides through the waves. It lasts half an hour and takes place from April to October.

Boston Science Museum

For parents who want to mix a little education and fun, the Museum of Science in Boston is a great place to be. It is one of the most famous museums in the world and houses over 500 exhibitions. Many of them are fully interactive, which means kids can touch and play with science objects, learning while having fun. Other fun things to do include a simulation trip through the solar system where you can watch the planets and stars swirl around you. The museum is open all year round.

Before you go: don’t forget the ESTA

Before planning your trip, and even before booking your plane tickets, it is essential that you put your visa procedures in order. While it may seem daunting, depending on where you’re from, getting the right document can be done in as little as ten minutes. If you are coming from the UK or any other country in the European Union, you will not need a visa to travel to the United States. Instead, you can get an ESTA. It is the easy to obtain online substitute for the standard US visa.

All you need to do to get an ESTA is to fill out the digital application form. Then you make the payment and wait for everything to be approved. Once done, you can now travel to the United States. You won’t need to print anything, as everything happens electronically. Once you are in the Homeland Security database, all you have to do is show your passport at the airport and you can board without any problem.

One thing to keep in mind, however, is that all travelers need an ESTA. This includes children, regardless of their age. Even babies need their own ESTA and passport. Most families therefore submit a group application using one form to obtain ESTAs for the whole family.

But once this has been sorted out, there’s nothing stopping you from traveling to America once the borders reopen!
